Job Description
Large Coral Gables commercial bank seeks an experienced Fixed Income Analyst to assist in the management of the bank investment portfolio.
Some of the job functions are as follows:
- Search, analyze, and recommend investment alternatives for the bank. Objective: Maximize the return of the investment portfolio with a minimum of risk.
- Analyze investment securities available in the market and recommend the best ones to the Treasurer. The task requires continuous monitoring of banks and brokers inventories as well as monitoring of the prices and spreads in which securities are trading.
- Once securities have been identified, the Investment Analyst shall prepare a detailed financial analysis of the security including Total Return, Option Adjusted Spread, Yield, Duration, Convexity, and other factors such as risk-return characteristics, sensibilities, legal aspects, protection clauses, marketability, liquidity, and suitability analysis.
- Prepares presentations of investment recommendations to ALCO and Executive Committee
- Monitoring of investment portfolio performance. Objective: Maintain close watch to avoid divergence from benchmark.
This activity includes periodic (monthly, quarterly and annual) performance monitoring and comparison with market benchmarks and peer group. If product performance is below standards, the Investment Analyst shall prepare and recommend new strategies.
- Daily dealing with brokers. Objective: Develop and maintain continuous contracts with banks and brokers to obtain market color in order to provide a market summary to Treasurer.
- Execution: The investment analyst will help the Treasurer to close and execute transactions and may execute transactions under the direct supervision of the Treasurer.
Job Requirements

The candidate shall have at least 2 to 5 years of experience with analysis of fixed income securities including MBS, CMOs, ABS, and corporate bonds, and experience working with prepayment models.

The Ideal candidate will have a masters degree in Finance, Engineering, Economics from a top school, strong modeling skills and excellent communication skills.
- Prefer candidates that have experience working in a trading desk or research area at a large institution.
