Waste Services, Inc., an integrated hauling, recycling and disposal company is looking for an experienced Class A or B mechanic for its Miami Florida location.
POSITION SUMMARY Our MINIMUM requirements are for a Class B mechanic who works under general supervision and selects from pre-established written instructions and procedures to accomplish assigned tasks. Position typically reports to a supervisor or manager and may periodically assist in orienting and training Class C technicians. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - include but are limited to the following: • Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance (PM) services • Performs inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on assigned vehicles and equipment • Utilizes vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs; estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and requisitions new parts • Performs all work within Standard Repair times • Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns; conducts safety checks; • Utilizes fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage and accounting for repair times • Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards • Performs all work in accordance with establish safety procedures.
A Class A Technician would, naturally, have greater expectations and require greater skills.

Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: • High school diploma or GED required with a minimum of two (2) years experience in automotive/truck, light or heavy equipment repair, or completion of an accredited vocational technical training program. • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: • Must be able to read and interpret documents written in English – such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals • Must be able to effectively communicate in English with vendors – drivers and internal operations staff • Must be proficient in vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair and welding techniques • Must obtain Break Inspection Certification and Annual Vehicle Inspection Certification • Must possess working knowledge of fuel, ignition, cooling, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and air break systems • Must possess skills in operating tools, equipment, parts and procedures utilized during repair and service of vehicles and equipment • Must possess knowledge of safety procedures and practices necessary when operating or repairing vehicles or equipment • Must possess adequate skills in repair of special purpose equipment • Must be able to diagnose defects in and repair variety of equipment and vehicles • Must possess working knowledge of hydraulic systems and be able to ready hydraulic schematics • Must be knowledgeable of Total Tire Maintenance Program • Must be able to understand and utilize fleet maintenance software program
