Job Description:


Unit Supervisor III (CT) Supervises a unit of Texas Works Advisors and clerical staff responsible for determining client eligibility for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Food Stamps and Medicaid Programs.

 

 

Essential Job Functions:


Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. Selects, manages, and develops staff through conferences, mentoring, training, and performance appraisal. Reads cases and provide policy interpretation. Prepares management reports, analyzes information to keep management informed, and responds to issues. Plans, coordinates, and monitors service delivery in assigned area to ensure effective and efficient program operations with high volume activities in all areas. Interprets policies, procedures, rules, regulations, or standards to others (for example, staff, applicants, clients, providers, vendors, the public, and community organizations). Analyzes and effectively redistributes the workload to have a positive impact of timeliness, accuracy, and meeting program goals and expectations. Develops and maintains working relationships with others (for example, agency staff or representatives of community resources, other state agencies, federal agencies, or the public).

Plans, organizes, prioritize, coordinates, and monitors service delivery in assigned area to ensure effective and efficient program operations. Interprets policies, procedures, rules, regulations, or standards to others (for example, staff, applicants, clients, providers, vendors, the public, and public officials). Analyzes and effectively redistributes the workload to have a positive impact of timeliness, accuracy, and meeting program goals and expectations. Knowledge of English language, such as vocabulary, grammar, and organization of expression, required for documenting coaching notes, meeting notes, & adverse action. Ability to perform multiple tasks in a timely manner. Ability to respond to and resolve client inquiries and complaints. Assertiveness to manage a team of staff to effectively, efficiently, and consistently meet high production expectations. Develops and maintains working relationships with others (for example, agency staff or representatives of community resources, other state agencies, federal agencies, or the public).

 

Registration or Licensure Requirements:

 

 

Initial Selection Criteria:


Sixty (60) hours credit from an accredited college or university required. Relevant work experience may be substituted for college credit. Degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Three (3) years experience as a Texas Works Advisor (II, III, and IV) preferred. Current knowledge in eligibility program policy and procedures preferred. Ability to work in a professional customer service environment required. Ability to plan, organizes, and monitors production work. Effective written and oral communication skills required. Experience in making decisions. Ability to perform multiple tasks in a timely manner. Ability to work beyond normal work hours as needed/required. Skill in the use of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

 

 

Additional Information:


Effective September 1, 2009, the salary group for the B9 classified OES unit supervisors (Human Services Specialist VII) will change from B9 to the new B17 salary group (salary range $35,651 - $55,258). Effective October 1, 2009, the salary group for B17 classified unit supervisors will change to B19/Program Supervisor II, Job Class 1582 (salary range $40,816 - $65,306). This represents a classification upgrade from the B17 group to the B19 group effective October 1, 2009. Effective October 1, 2009, a career ladder will be implemented that will promote B19 Program Supervisor II employees to the B21 Program Supervisor III classification (salary group $46,731 - $74,769) upon completing two years in the B19 position and at least meeting job performance requirements. These positions will be in various locations in Dallas, Tarrant and the surrounding counties of HHSC OES Region 3. Requisition # - 128067
