Vice President Origination

This is a newly created position required by the company to identify and form transactional relationships with buyers of renewable energy and RECs in support of renewable energy development and project financing activities. The regions of focus are driven by Company’s development activities and currently include PJM, WECC, SPP, NYISO, and NE-ISO. The incumbent will be required to leverage existing contacts among the IOU, municipal and co-operative power sectors of the focus regions and continuously explore and develop new ones for the purpose of executing power purchase agreements supporting existing projects. The candidate would coordinate with Development, Engineering, Finance and Transmission.

Job Requirements

Establish transactional relationships with utilities (IOU, municipal, cooperative) and develop a thorough understanding of their needs and requirements for long-term renewable power purchases or renewable asset acquisitions.

·          Where required, provide input for the targeting of regional development activities.

·          Provide support and advice to Development and Finance for project acquisition, financing, PPA transaction structuring, negotiations and internal risk analyses.

·          Support contract negotiation teams with respect to power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements and transmission service agreements.

Qualifications

·            Bachelor’s degree required; Masters degree a plus.

·            At least 10 years experience with an energy company or renewable energy company involved in wholesale market origination, marketing, or structured transactions.

·            Long-term energy contract origination a must; Renewable energy contracts a plus.

·         Strong knowledge and network of the WECC.

·            Range of existing relationships among IOU, municipal power, and/or co-operative power companies required. Relationships covering multiple regions is a plus.

·            Strong written and verbal communication skills.

·            The candidate should be organized and highly analytical, have proven relationship management skills and be capable of recognizing opportunities to expand the market for output from renewable generation projects.

·            Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook).
