Job Description
The Equipment Operator position receives, stores, and distributes material and products according to ISO 9002 and customer guidelines by performing the following duties: - Reads production schedule, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to pre-determined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Assembles customer orders from stock, stage orders and/or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department according to OHL or customer pick sheet, repacking stock as needed and requested by the customer.
- Loads, unloads, moves, stacks and stages products and materials using a forklift, reach truck, order picker, or other power industrial equipment. Operates the equipment in a safe and efficient manner following defined work methods and procedures.
- Maintains the equipment in a safe and clean manner and reports service requests as needed.
- Assists in maintaining the security of the warehouse by conducting operations in a manner which promotes safety.
- Double checks orders for accuracy and neatness according to ISO 9002 procedures.
- Marks materials with identifying information.
- Opens bales, crates and other containers.
- Records amounts of materials or items received and distributed.
- Weighs or counts items for distribution within warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards.
- Participates in company re-work projects as needed.
- Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
- Efficiently moves and loads product from staging and/or storage areas into trailers.
- Unloads inbound freight safely and moves product to storage locations. Efficiently stacks and stores merchandise in the appropriate, designated area.
- Pulls and prepares product for shipment, ensuring the exact numbers and type of product is loaded. Performs picking duties in an efficient manner that meets both company and customer standards.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties such as: assisting with physical inventories, cycle counts, ensuring proper stock rotation, maintaining a clean, neat, and orderly work area, informing a supervisor of any unsafe or hazardous working conditions, and assisting in clean-up as required.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Previous experience with power industrial equipment in a warehouse environment.
