XML Data Engineer and Content Analyst

The Data Engineer is responsible for the analysis of content, and development of procedures for the creation and quality assurance of XML for our prestigious product range.
Successful candidates will be joining a busy and dynamic online team focused on delivering an excellent service and continuously improving our processes to meet business needs.
We are seeking capable and enthusiastic people to:
· analyse manuscripts and printed texts against requirements for online and print products
· prepare guidelines and instructions for the transformation of source content into XML
· devise appropriate XML data structures and tagging schemes
· write tools and scripts to process, quality check, present, and manipulate data
This is an exciting and challenging role requiring people with excellent analytical and people skills, including:
· content analysis experience (i.e. ability to analyse diverse content and its underlying structure)
· expert experience of XML and XML tools including ability to devise and enhance DTDs
· outstanding communication skills, with the ability to communicate equally with technical and non-technical people
· experience of devising workflows and procedures for print/online production tasks
Additional experience in the following areas will be advantageous:
· publishing experience
· online product development, and related standards (such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
· practical knowledge of XSLT, XPath, Unicode and related technologies
· some programming experience (e.g. Perl), and an understanding of the software lifecycle
